Frederick high school biomedical program honored

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A program enabling Frederick high school students to intern at two of the nation's top biological laboratories is earning praise from the Maryland State Department of Education.

The Biomedical Sciences Program at the Frederick County Career and Technology Center is among a number of programs and educators receiving Awards of Excellence Tuesday in Baltimore.

The Frederick program was launched in 2008. It provides internship opportunities at the National Cancer Institute at Frederick and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick.
