Restored C&O Canal aqueduct dedication in Md.

JEFFERSON, Md. (AP) - A structure in the C&O Canal National Historical Park is getting some attention from federal officials in Jefferson.
The dedication ceremony Saturday morning marks completion of a nearly $3 million restoration of the Catoctin Aqueduct.
The stone structure was built in the 1870s to carry canal boats over the mouth of Catoctin Creek at the Potomac River.
It was known as the most beautiful of the canal's 11 aqueducts until two of its three arches collapsed in 1973 from frequent flooding.
U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin heads the list of dignitaries attending the event. The Maryland Democrat says the restoration is expected to attract more than a half-million visitors to the park annually.
