Whether you prefer a romantic dinner, a low-key evening, a kid-friendly celebration, or an all-out bash, there’s plenty to choose from.

Below is a list of some New Year’s Eve happenings in the D.C. area — from dinner specials, to live music, family-friendly events and the region’s biggest parties.

RESTAURANTS

Fall Church’s Mad Fox Brewing Company will celebrate the year from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The New Year’s Eve party includes passed appetizers, a dinner buffet, a dessert buffet, a champagne toast and a live performance by the Tom Principato Band. Tickets are $75 a person.

Downtown Bethesda’s Redwood will transform into a 1920s speakeasy on New Year’s Eve, so be on the lookout for mobsters, flappers and gamblers. Feeling fancy? Robert Wiedmaier’s French flagship Marcel’s will satisfy your craving for an elegant evening with its seven-course dinner. The first seating is sold old, but the 8 p.m. seating is still available. Come hungry; dinner, which will not disappoint, is $225 per person.

If splurging on a multi-course meal isn’t your style, Alba Osteria, a new restaurant in town, is offering a traditional a la carte Piemotese menu for New Year’s Eve, with meats, cheeses, house-made pastas and Neapolitan pizzas priced from $5 to $19. Plus, the restaurant will supply guests with a complimentary glass of Prosecco at midnight.
