Besides the town Mayor Bill Euille, the other big guy will be there — Santa, and the two will be light up the city’s holiday tree. There will be musical performances as well as caroling and a sing-along.

The event takes place rain or shine. Admission is free, and you won’t need a ticket. But transit officials recommend taking public transportation.

Just over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on the Maryland side, the National Harbor Christmas Tree lighting takes place starting at 5 p.m. Nov. 29. This waterfront community will light a 65-foot tree and set off fireworks.

There will be a workshop to make ornaments, a storytelling session and of course, holiday music.
