WASHINGTON — Can you guess the English word most written on the Internet in 2013?

According to one company: 404.

The Global Language Monitor is out with its 14th annual report of the English words and phrases most popular online. “404,” the near-universal code meaning failure on the internet, was followed by “Fail,” “hashtag,” “@pontifex,” and “The Optic.”
