'Sweet spot' is now for booking July 4 trips

WASHINGTON - Looking for good deals on a weekend getaway this July 4 holiday? Now is the time.

According to Travelocity, this time of year is the "sweet spot" for booking trips. If history is any indicator, prices should remain relatively consistent until the week of June 20 when travelers who wait to book could experience a price increase of about 10 percent.

Below are some good deals from the D.C. area to top destinations:

Dulles to Chicago: June 30 - July 5

Roundtrip flight on Continental Airlines and five nights at the 3.5 star Club Quarters. Walking distance from Sears Tower and near many other top attractions. Priced at $645 per person including taxes. For details, click here.

BWI to L.A.: June 30 - July 5

Roundtrip flight on Continental and five nights at the 3.5 star O Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Hotel is a boutique property -- only 68 rooms -- near the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood Walk of Fame and Sunset Strip. Gets high marks from customers. $767 per person including all taxes. Reagan National to Orlando: June 30 - July 5

Roundtrip flight on Jet Blue and five nights at the five-star Orlando Peabody for $1433 -- for a family of four -- or $358 per person including tax. Hotel has a full service spa, double Olympic size pool and several restaurants. For details, click here.
