WASHINGTON -- It's frustrating having to navigate through customer service phone trees, only to be put on hold for hours for a chance to speak to an actual representative. Some companies think they have the answer, but there is a big catch.

Time Warner Cable offers customers access to a 24-hour support hotline and a three-hour window, Reports, down from eight hours.

But this additional service costs $180 extra per year.

Other companies, such as Apple, and American, United and Southwest airlines are offering similar perks for a price.
