ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) -- Howard County police say an officer wounded in an exchange of gunfire has been released from the hospital.
Police say 30-year-old Officer Steven Houk, who was originally listed in serious condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore, was discharged Sunday.
Police have charged 29-year-old Stephon Prather on Friday with assault, reckless endangerment and gun offenses. Prather is accused of shooting Houk on Wednesday when Houk and two other officers confronted him outside a car dealership.
Police searched for Prather overnight and say he was found the next morning walking on Route 1. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg.
