Hearing held for Howard County school board member

Tuesday - 5/8/2012, 8:32am  ET

TOWSON, Md. (AP) - A hearing to determine whether a Howard County school board member should be removed from the panel is underway.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the hearing began on Monday, during which Allen Dyer questioned another board member about alleged confidentiality breaches for about three hours. More than a dozen witnesses are expected to testify about whether Dyer's release of documents amounted to confidentiality breaches. The school board has also accused of Dyer of threatening board members and school system staff.

An administrative law judge is presiding over the hearing, which is expected to last at least five days.

Dyer lost in the primary in March and will be vacating his seat after the general election.
