Jamie is a general assignment reporter for WTOP's news team. You can also hear her
"at the Editor's Desk" during morning drive. She has covered everything from tax
delinquent federal workers to presidential inaugurations to the devastating June
2012 derecho. Whether it is the latest school board controversy or scammers trying
to pick your pocket, Jamie delivers the "news you can use."
She is also an adjunct professor at her alma mater, the University of Maryland,
College Park. As a student at U.Md., she chased down stories for Capital News
Service TV and received a student Emmy Award for her feature, "Prison Dogs," a
profile on prison inmates who rehabilitate homeless dogs. She was a co-sports
director of the student-run sports radio station WMUCSports.com and graduated with a
degree in broadcast television journalism.
She spends the "other 8 hours" in her day playing with her baby - a Canon EOS 7D
camera - and reading WWII biographies. Born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs,
she grew up a die-hard Eagles and Phillies fan, and because of that, she's learned
to love yelling at the television.
When Jamie was a freshman at college, she suffered a stroke. You can read more
about her story here.
