Czech government renews plan to sell CSA airline

Thursday - 11/8/2012, 9:39am  ET

PRAGUE (AP) -- The Czech government is renewing its plans to sell the troubled national carrier CSA.

Prime Minister Petr Necas says the government's goal is to sell the airline to a partner that would develop CSA's business.

Finance Ministry spokesman Ondrej Jakob says the government will send Thursday a letter to the world's 50 biggest airlines inviting them to participate in a tender. The airlines will have until the end of November to submit preliminary, unbinding bids.

In 2009, the government canceled the sale of the state-owned carrier because it said the only bid it received was too low.

Necas says his government is ready to do the same if there's no suitable bid.

A three-year government plan to restructure the airline should be completed next year.
