(AP) - FORD'S NEW ESCAPE: The 2013 Ford Escape goes on sale this month. It has ditched the old boxy styling in favor of a more aerodynamic look that Ford hopes will draw new buyers.

TOP SELLER: This is a critical vehicle for Ford, which has sold more than 2 million Escapes since it went on sale 12 years ago. The small SUV segment is one of the fastest growing in the U.S.

TOUGH COMPETITION: The Escape has formidable competitors, including the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Ford also faces competition from its own Edge crossover, which is around the same size.
