(AP) - NOT CLOSING THE SALE?: Third-quarter results from many companies have underwhelmed investors and signaled that the economy is far from recovered. Shares of Hasbro, SunTrust Banks and VF Corp. fell after they reported results.

BITE-SIZED APPLE: Apple was an exception to Monday's mediocre markets. Shares popped 4 percent as investors waited for the company to reveal its mini iPad on Tuesday.

FAMILY PLANNING: Another stock that soared was genealogy website Ancestry.com, which announced that it will sell itself to European private equity buyers.
