WASHINGTON — This week, the public can head online to vote for which one of eight Maryland citizens will sing the national anthem at the Star-Spangled Spectacular.

The Maryland State Arts Council asked citizens to submit their rendition of the national anthem to the Star-Spangled Sing-Off contest for the chance to win $1,814 and sing at the celebration. Eight finalists were selected after being scored by a panel of judges.

The Star-Spangled Spectacular, a week-long celebration held in Baltimore, Maryland this September, will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore and the national anthem.

The eight finalists’ videos are posted online at Select Our Star-Spangled Sing-Off Winner, where viewers can vote for their favorite.
