BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Geoff Johns, executive producer of “The Flash,” says the upcoming CW series is probably the most faithful DC Comics adaptation ever.

Grant Gustin stars as Barry Allen, who becomes the fastest man alive, known as The Flash. He was introduced last fall on two episodes of The CW’s “Arrow.”

The cast and executive producers spoke to journalists Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour about the show set to premiere Oct. 7.

Here are some highlights:

— Wentworth Miller (formerly of “Prison Break”) will be introduced in the show’s fourth episode as Leonard Snart (otherwise known as Captain Cold, a villain with a freeze gun.)

— Look for a wink to DC Comics villain Gorilla Grodd in the pilot episode. Grodd is an enemy to The Flash.

— Expect crossovers with characters from “Arrow” and “The Flash.” Gustin said in an interview the two sets are across the street from each other in Vancouver, British Columbia. He teased that those appearances will likely happen more than people might anticipate.

— Art released from The CW shows The Flash wearing a purple costume. This will change. “Our hope is to augment it and change it over time … We’ll be evolving the suit,” executive producer Greg Berlanti said.
