New York Times slams Guy Fieri’s new restaurant

WASHINGTON – It’s no secret that critics can be brutal, especially when it comes to food. But one New York Times reviewer seemed to take extra delight in ripping apart Guy Fieri’s new Times Square restaurant.

From missing orders to chewy chicken, Pete Wells was anything but impressed with his dining experience.

“Guy Fieri, have you eaten at your new restaurant in Times Square? Have you pulled up one of the 500 seats at Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar and ordered a meal? Did you eat the food? Did it live up to your expectations?” Wells asked at the start of his column.

From there, the review just spirals downward:

“Hey, did you try that blue drink, the one that glows like nuclear waste? The watermelon margarita? Any idea why it tastes like some combination of radiator fluid and formaldehyde?”

The host of Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” was also recently slammed by celebrity chef provocateur Anthony Bourdain during an appearance in Houston, Texas, Culture Map reports. In a not-safe-for-work rant, the infamously blunt chef pondered how Fieri will age.

“How is [he] de-douched? Does he turn down the flames on his sleeves sloooowly?”

Fieri has not yet commented on either incident.
