Roger Berliner Releases TV Ad

Roger Berliner’s new TV ad lets the Washington Post editorial board do the talking when it comes to criticizing opponent Duchy Trachtenberg.

The 30-second spot will start airing on Montgomery County cable systems on Tuesday morning through the June 24 election day, said Berliner campaign strategist Andrew Feldman.

The two-week ad buy focuses heavily on the recent Washington Post endorsement of the two-term incumbent Berliner against Trachtenberg, the former at-large member of Council and Berliner ally.

The Post endorsement said Berliner “is vastly superior to Duchy Trachtenberg,” and that Trachtenberg, “was widely regarded as disorganized, unfocused, polarizing and inattentive to constituents.”

All that is included in the ad.

Also this week, Berliner’s campaign will hold a fundraiser at the home of Jeffrey Slavin, the mayor of the Town of Somerset and philanthropist. Guests will include Sen. Ben Cardin, Rep. Henry Waxman and former Rep. Howard Berman. That fundraiser is set for Wednesday.

It appears Berliner’s campaign is expecting a win. It has an election night reception scheduled for Positano, where Berliner kicked off his campaign in early April.
