Man Arrested For Theft From Vehicles In Wyngate Neighborhood

Montgomery County police carAn off-duty police officer arrested a D.C. man spotted entering cars and stealing property in the Wyngate neighborhood of Bethesda.

Police said 22-year-old Dimitri Lemaire, of Washington D.C., was arrested early Friday morning after an off-duty officer spotted him stealing from a car on Ewing Drive.

Court records listed Lemaire as homeless and police charged him with one count of theft from a vehicle and three counts of being in a vehicle with the intent to commit theft from the vehicle. Lemaire has a long history of arrests for various types of theft.

A resident on the neighborhood listserv said police arrested the man a little before 12:30 a.m. Friday at Ewing Drive and Johnson Avenue, near North Bethesda Middle School. Lemaire stole or attempted to steal property from at least three cars, according to the resident.

It’s a good reminder to lock your car doors at night. A lot of people don’t, despite repeated warnings from police.
