Yogurt Shop Closes, Leaves Big Hole On Norfolk Avenue

An empty Berry Yogurt on Norfolk AvenueBerry Yogurt, the Woodmont Triangle frozen yogurt shop known for its ping pong table, foosball and air hockey is closed, leaving a big retail opening on Norfolk Avenue.

The shop appeared closed as early as January, as blogger Robert Dyer pointed out. There was no official announcement from the store, but the inside of the shop has been cleaned out and its Yelp page makes it pretty clear Berry Yogurt is not coming back.

The store at one point experimented with a sushi bar, an odd combination and perhaps a telltale sign that things weren’t going so well.

The closing leaves a large vacant retail space at 7920 Norfolk Ave., one of the main drags of Bethesda’s older restaurant and retail areas.

Douglas Development owns the spot, as well as the space of the Rock Bottom Brewery next door and the 11-story office building above.
