Sunday - 6/30/2013, 12:50pm  ET

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Police say a 15-year-old boy drowned while swimming late at night with a group of teens at a community pool in Rockville.

Montgomery County police say the teens sneaked into the pool in the New Mark Commons area after it closed Saturday night. When Hafis Kareem of Rockville went under the water and didn't surface, his friends yelled to a passerby, who called 911.

Officers and emergency medical workers performed CPR on the scene, and the boy was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The circumstances surrounding the drowning remain under investigation.
