Police seek more info in Montgomery Village day care sex abuse case

WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police are asking parents whose children attend a Montgomery Village day care to talk with their children about inappropriate touching, and they want to know whether any other children may have been victims.

David Fernando Javier Zaraysi, 66, of Gaithersburg, has been charged with abusing two sisters — who are 3 and 7 — at the Playing and Learning Family Child Care in Montgomery Village. The day care operates out of the basement of a home on the 18000 block of Royal Bonnett Circle.

Zaraysi, who was arrested March 14, is the husband of the day care provider. Police arrested him after the little girls told their mother about the abuse on March 13.

Police charged Zarayasi with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of committing a second-degree sex offense and two counts of committing a third-degree sex offense. He’s currently held on a $500,000 bond.

Detectives want anyone who may know of other abuse by Zarayasi to contact the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400.
