Nationals' split squad tops Astros 4-3

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Gio Gonzalez allowed a run and three hits in 4 2-3 innings and a Washington Nationals' split-squad earned a 4-3 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Steven Souza Jr., hit two home runs and added an RBI triple for the Nationals.

Souza homered in his first two at-bats against Houston starter Scott Feldman. He tripled in another run in the seventh inning after a double by Brock Peterson, who had two hits.

Feldman gave up eight hits and three runs while striking out five in four innings in his second start of the spring.

Brad Peacock, another candidate for Houston's rotation, pitched the last four innings. He allowed a run and two hits.

Jose Altuve had an RBI double and stolen base for the Astros.
