Garrett Jones was the hitting star for the Pirates, going 3-for-4 with a solo homer, a two-run double and four RBIs.

DENVER (AP) -- Cincinnati still owns a six-game lead over Arizona for the NL's second wild-card berth after the Reds and Diamondbacks lost on Friday. Todd Helton homered twice and had six RBIs as Colorado dumped Cincinnati 9-6, dropping the Reds 3 ½ games behind the NL Central-leading Pirates. Tim Lincecum (LIHN'-she-kuhm) scattered six hits in six innings of San Francisco's 1-0 shutout of Arizona, which allowed the victorious Dodgers to move 10 ½ games ahead of the second-place Diamondbacks in the NL West.

UNDATED (AP) -- Boston beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3 to stretch their lead in the AL East to 3 ½ games over Tampa Bay. David Ortiz hit a two-run single that gave Boston a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Rays lost to Oakland 4-3 on Jed Lowrie's tiebreaking double in the bottom of the eighth.

UNDATED (AP) -- Texas tops the AL West by two over Oakland following the Rangers' 3-2 loss to Minnesota. Yu Darvish was working on a no-hitter until Chris Herrmann knotted the score with a two-run homer in the seventh, one batter before Justin Morneau's solo blast put the Twins ahead to stay.

DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit beat Cleveland 7-2 in a game called by rain after seven innings, increasing the Tigers' lead in the AL Central to 7 ½ games over the second-place Indians. Victor Martinez had two hits and two RBIs to back Rick Porcello, who held the Indians to two runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
