Schierholtz powers Cubs to 7-6 win over D'Backs

PHOENIX (AP) -- Nate Schierholtz is having the kind of season that makes contending clubs interested in dealing for him. He showed why there is such interest with a career-high five-RBI night Wednesday in the Chicago Cubs' 12-inning 7-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Schierholtz lined a two-out double into the left-field corner in the top of the 12th to drive in the go-ahead run. He also saved a potential run with a throw from right field in the ninth inning that ultimately held Arizona to a tie and helped send the game into extra innings.

Schierholtz also hit a three-run home run. The Cubs lost a six-run lead but rallied with two out in the 12th on a walk to Anthony Rizzo followed by Schierholtz's double.

"I love being a Cub and I'm hoping to stay here but you never know what will happen in the next week," Schierholtz said. "All we can do is go out there and focus on trying to win games.

The Cubs are 5-2 on the road in extra-inning games this season.

"It's good to win after they came back like that," Schierholtz said.
