MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Marlins appear to be dumping salaries again. A person familiar with the deal says the Marlins have undergone another payroll purge by trading shortstop Jose Reyes (RAY'-uhs), left-hander Mark Buehrle (BUR'-lee) and right-hander Josh Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays as part of a blockbuster deal for shortstop Yunel Escobar (yoo-NEHL' EHS'-koh-bar) and several Jays prospects.
UNDATED (AP) -- Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (RAWTH'-lihs-bur-gur) has a sprained right shoulder and left Heinz Field with his arm in a sling. His status for Sunday's showdown with AFC North rival Baltimore is uncertain. He was hurt in Monday night's overtime win over Kansas City. Veteran backup Byron Leftwich filled in and completed 7 of 14 passes for 73 yards. Tomlin said safety Troy Polamalu (pah-luh-MAH'-loo) remains doubtful with a right calf injury. Polamalu hasn't played since a win over Philadelphia on Oct. 7.
UNDATED (AP) -- If all goes well, U.S. bobsledders may be driving BMWs. It's part of an effort to build a better bobsled for Team USA. With an eye on the 2014 Sochi Olympics, BMW of North America and the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation have been working for more than a year on the development of a new two-man bobsled. The deal is being announced today.
UNDATED (AP) -- Four-time World Cup overall champ Lindsay Vonn remains hospitalized in Colorado with "severe intestinal pain" that has been affecting her for the past two weeks. Vonn's ski technician tells the AP that Vonn told him she feels has pain all over her body and that her bones are hurting.
PARIS (AP) -- The owner of a leading tennis academy in Spain that trained some of the sport's stars says its players have stopped working with a doctor banned by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency for helping riders on Lance Armstrong's cycling team dope. Pancho Alvarino told The Associated Press the relationship between his TenisVal academy and doctor Luis Garcia del Moral "started approximately 14-15 years ago."
