Fire displaces residents in Prince George’s apartment building

WASHINGTON — A fire disrupted Thanksgiving for dozens of families in Prince George’s County Thursday evening.

It started on the second floor of an eight-story apartment building on Good Hope Avenue, near the Naylor Road Metro Station.

The fire is out now, Prince George’s County fire spokesman Mark Brady says, and no one was hurt.

Brady says firefighters’ efforts were slowed because the apartment was piled with flammable materials — some stacks as high as seven feet.

Brady says 27 residents have been displaced; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
