Police: 3 men involved in armed carjacking in Bethesda

WASHINGTON — A woman was carjacked at gunpoint in Bethesda, Maryland, Wednesday night, and the police say three men were involved.

It happened in the 7800 block of Hampden Lane just before 7 p.m.

Montgomery County police say that the woman driving a Volvo SUV parked and began to use her phone. The car was still running and the doors were unlocked.

A masked man opened the door, put a gun to the woman’s head and demanded she get out. Another man opened the passenger door and stole a bag off the passenger’s seat. A third man was present, police say.

Police say the man with the gun and the man who stole the bag were black. The third man’s race is unknown.

An officer saw the woman’s dark red Volvo XC60 near 16th Street and the East- West Highway, in Silver Spring, Maryland. The car drove off, and officers lost it near 14th Street and Primrose Road, in Northwest D.C.

The car is a dark red, 2011 Volvo XC60 with Maryland tags 1AE3792.

The police are asking anyone who has seen it to call 911.
