Police still searching for man who killed 3-year-old

WASHINGTON – Police asked for the public’s help locating the man accused of shooting and killing a 3-year-old girl inside a Landover home as her family prepared for the girl’s funeral Tuesday.

Prince George’s County investigators say Davon Wallace fired the shots that killed Knijah Bibb on Aug. 10. And Major Cesar Pacheco warned that anyone caught helping Wallace could also be prosecuted for helping Wallace allude police.

Pacheco, commander of the department’s investigative division, says that the community was outraged and heartbroken by the senseless death of Knijah and responded by helping police identify Wallace.

“We hope to reinvigorate that emotion,” Pacheco says. “Today we are laying her, as a community not just as a family, all of us are laying her to rest. It’s a very sad case.”

Pacheco called the indiscriminate shooting into a home “alarming and disappointing.”

Investigators believe that Wallace remains in the area after an effort to convince him to turn himself in failed.

“Initially we were hopeful that through his attorney he would turn himself in. It hasn’t happened. At this point, he is a fugitive,” Pacheco says.

They don’t know who could be aiding him and are hoping members of the community will call in with such crucial details.

Wallace faces first- and second-degree murder charges. An accomplice, Brian R. Campbell, is also charged with first- and second-degree murder charges plus manslaughter and two accessory charges.

Police also say they have not recovered the gun used to shot Knijah and don’t know whether Wallace still has it.

Anyone with information regarding Wallace’s whereabouts is asked to call 301-772-4925 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
