BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland Transit Administration officials say a police officer shot a man in the foot during a confrontation at the Mondawmin Mall subway center in Baltimore.
MTA spokesman Terry Owens says when an officer stopped a car that had pulled into a bus loop Tuesday afternoon, the driver jumped out and started running away. He says a second officer running toward the scene told the man to stop and when he didn't, she shot him. Owens says the officer feared for her life.
Owens says 33-year-old Eugene Doose, who was treated at Sinai Hospital and released, faces charges.
Baltimore police are now investigating. The MTA officer is on paid administrative leave.
