ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A man who repeatedly stabbed his stepfather with a butcher knife has been sentenced to probation and ordered to undergo treatment in a mental health clinic.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jesse Edward Chapman of Brooklyn Park had pleaded guilty to assault in the 2011 attack on his stepfather, Michael Wilson. He was sentenced to time served and five years of probation on Monday.
Prosecutors say Chapman went into the home of Wilson and Chapman's mother, Joyce Wilson, in the early morning. Authorities say Chapman choked his mother and repeatedly stabbed his stepfather.
The Capital of Annapolis reports (http://bit.ly/1dAVYC9) that Chapman expressed remorse for his crime in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court, saying he was very sick at the time of the stabbing.
