DISPUTANTA, Va. (AP) -- An advanced manufacturing research center in Prince George County has named a chief technology officer.
The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing named Bob Fagan to the position this week. Fagan previously served as chief engineer at Pratt & Whitney developing various aircraft engines.
The center is a public-private partnership between dozens of industry partners and the University of Virginia, Virginia State University and Virginia Tech.
Work taking place at the 60,000-square-foot facility completed last September addresses challenges in surface engineering and manufacturing systems.
The consortium supporting the center's research includes Rolls-Royce, Newport News Shipbuilding and Siemens.
