Baltimore Co. drawing attention to CPR importance

Wednesday - 6/12/2013, 4:50pm  ET

REISTERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County emergency responders, elected officials and a Johns Hopkins Hospital doctor are drawing attention to the importance of CPR and defibrillation.

The event Wednesday took place at the Franklin Fire Station in Reisterstown is inspired by the experiences of David Efron, a Hopkins doctor who found his wife unconscious and in cardiac arrest in January. He called 911 and began performing CPR until rescue workers arrived.

The Efrons discussed the dangers of sudden cardiac arrest and the importance of immediately using CPR and defibrillation. Other survivors of cardiac arrest also shared their stories.
