HAGERSTOWN, Md. - A Pennsylvania man has been charged with assaulting a Maryland State trooper after he hit a cruiser trying run away from them in a van.
According to The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown (http://bit.ly/11I7Z3O), Washington County District Court records show that troopers had gone to Premium Outlets in Hagerstown this week for reports of counterfeit money being passed. Police approached a van that had been linked to a suspect.
The court documents state that a trooper told the van driver to hand over the keys, but the driver pulled off.
Records indicate troopers pulled up next to the van, which hit the cruiser's fender, jumped a curb and hit several trees.
Twenty-eight-year-old Tyreik Gibson of Lansdowne, Pa., was arrested and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and other offenses.
