Big reveal of local movie theater’s makeover this week

WASHINGTON – The new and improved Bethesda Row Cinema will open again on May 3 after closing down in March 2013 for renovations.

When the theater opens its doors again, moviegoers can indulge in the wine, beer and other liquor beverages at the new round bar outside the screening rooms while enjoying the theater’s new look.

However, the screening rooms are now a bit smaller in order to accommodate larger, more comfortable seats with extra leg room. Customers can also expect reserved seating, so when they purchase a ticket, they will have to indicate which seat they want. The Washington Post reports that this change is getting mixed reviews.

All eight theaters will have new screens and sound systems, and a few of the theaters will also be equipped to show 3-D movies.
