Bowie State to host a biotechnology symposium

BOWIE, Md. (AP) -- Bowie State University is scheduled to host its 7th Annual Biotechnology symposium.

Thursday's symposium will be convened to present a semester of undergraduate research done by a molecular biology class.

Officials say that students applied DNA barcode techniques in the study of biodiversity and identification of grain and meat content of breakfast cereals and grocery store beef.

Guest speakers will include Dr. Faith Harrow from the National Human Genome Research Institute and Anika Bissahoyo, director of the Bowie State University Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.

The event begins at 11 a.m.
