ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- First lady Michelle Obama says all who rushed to help bombing victims earlier this week at the Boston marathon showed that America responds with courage, grit and selflessness during times of crisis.
Obama said Wednesday during a bill signing ceremony in Annapolis that those qualities are what police officers, firefighters, first responders and men and women in uniform showed by rushing to aid victims.
The first lady also says the president has directed the full resources of the federal government to assist state and local authorities as they investigate the bombings, which killed three people and wounded more than 170 on Monday.
The first lady was in Maryland for a bill signing with Gov. Martin O'Malley for a measure to help veterans and their spouses find jobs.
