Panel to consider adding more early voting centers

Thursday - 2/21/2013, 1:21pm  ET

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- A panel of lawmakers will hear testimony about a measure to increase the number of early voting centers in Maryland from 48 to 59.

The House Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing on the measure Thursday.

The number of early voting centers would increase from five to eight in some of the state's largest jurisdictions, including Montgomery, Prince George's and Baltimore counties. Early voting centers in Frederick would increase from one to three.

The measure also would allow a voter to register to vote or change his or her address on an existing registration during early voting at a center in the person's county of residence. The person could then vote at that early voting center.
