LAUREL, Md. - A 15-year-old high school freshman has died after he was struck by a car in Laurel.
Anne Arundel County police say Jaelin Ashe of Laurel was struck around 6 a.m. Thursday while crossing Laurel-Fort Meade Road. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police say Ashe was in a crosswalk but did not follow signals advising pedestrians to stop before crossing the road.
Ashe was a 9th-grader at Meade High School, where he was part of the Army ROTC program and the junior varsity football team.
