PERRYVILLE, Md. - Maryland State Police say a car with more than $100,000 of suspected heroin ready for street sale was stopped on Interstate 95 in Perryville.

It happened about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, when a trooper stopped a car for following a vehicle too closely. The trooper suspected drugs were involved and called for a drug-sniffing police dog.

The dog alerted to the car and 5,000 wax bindles containing suspected brown heroin were found ready for street sales. Hundreds of empty wax bindles, powder used to cut heroin and more than $78,000 in cash were also found.

The driver, 37-year-old Alterick Boyd of Grimesland, N.C., was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and other drug offenses. He is being held on $200,000 bond.
