OLDTOWN, Md. - Maryland State Police say an Oldtown man was found dead inside his car after the vehicle went off a private toll bridge into the Potomac River.
The Cumberland Times-News ( http://bit.ly/NEqAaE) reports that 74-year-old Lawrence Kennell was found dead inside his 2004 Cadillac after the accident late Sunday night.
Police told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the investigating officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Kennell's body after it was recovered.
Investigators are awaiting a medical examiner's report on the cause of death.
The bridge is a one-lane, wooden structure with no guard rails that connects Oldtown to Green Spring, W.Va.
