WASHINGTON - One person was found shot to death inside a burning house in Temple Hills in what police are calling a suicide.
Firefighters were first told to wait when they approached the two-story home on the 5300 block of Lorraine Drive after reports that shots had been fired inside the home, according to a news release.
A column of smoke was rising from the home and the fire was "spreading rapidly" when firefighters began fighting the blaze, which they extinguished in about 30 minutes. Inside, a victim suffering from a gunshot wound was found.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. No information has been released regarding the person's identity, the specific circumstances or if anyone else was involved.
Police are calling the scene a domestic argument that led to a suicide.
No other injuries were reported.
