ANNAPOLIS, Md. - State auditors have noted concerns with the Maryland State Lottery Agency's monitoring of slot machine gambling.

The lottery responded in the audit made public on Wednesday that it has either addressed the problems cited in the audit or is in the process of doing so.

The audit covers the period between March 17, 2008 and March 6, 2011.

It noted that the lotteryÂ's information systems network supporting various gaming systems was not adequately secured against external threats. The audit also noted a lack of documented supervisory reviews to make sure complaints by the public at casinos were adequately resolved and that certain licenses were properly issued.

The audit also pointed out that the lottery should improve its monitoring of time when slot machines are inoperable.
