BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say a man has been fatally shot after firing at officers who tried to question him during a drug investigation.
It happened about 7:45 p.m. Friday in East Baltimore. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi (goog-lee-EL-mee) says officers with the Eastern District's special enforcement section approached the suspect and a physical confrontation ensued.
Guglielmi says the man ran off and police followed. The spokesman says the man fired at officers with a handgun and an officer fired back, hitting the man.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Guglielmi says an officer suffered arm and shoulder injuries during the struggle with the suspect and was taken to Mercy Hospital.
