Friday - 6/29/2012, 4:50pm  ET

BALTIMORE - Baltimore police say a Brooklyn man has been charged with impersonating an officer and robbing a man.

Police say 26-year-old Joshua Brake was wearing a badge and carrying handcuffs and mace when he was pulled over. The Baltimore Sun ( http://bsun.md/KRaaO5) reported Friday that Brake's vehicle also had a cell phone connected to his car speakers playing a streaming feed of the police scanner.

The victim told police he was walking down the street June 16 when he was stopped by a man driving a green SUV who told him he was a police officer and searched him, taking $900 from his wallet. Police say surveillance cameras recorded the vehicle leaving the area.

Police say several people have been arrested in similar incidents and many of them have targeted Hispanic residents.
