MYERSVILLE, Md. - The Myersville Planning Commission is recommending that the Town Council reject plans for a natural gas compressor station near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Maryland Route 17 in Frederick County.
The Frederick News-Post ( http://bit.ly/MWGRF2) reports that the panel voted Tuesday against Dominion Resources Inc.'s request for a zoning amendment to allow construction of the project on a 21-acre site.
The Richmond, Va.-based company says it needs the unit to boost the flow of gas through underground pipes during peak demand periods.
Planning commissioners found that the project would be a public hazard. They also found it inconsistent with the town's economic growth plan.
The Town Council will take the matter to a public hearing Aug. 1.
