Wizards’ Bradley Beal needs left wrist surgery

WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal will need surgery on his left wrist and it’s not clear yet how long he’ll be sidelined.

Beal had an MRI exam Saturday that showed he has a non-displaced fracture of a bone in his non-shooting wrist.

He was hurt in the first quarter of a preseason game against Charlotte on Friday night.

The Wizards said Saturday that they will announce a timeline for Beal’s recovery after the operation.

Beal averaged 17.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists last season, pairing with John Wall to give the Wizards one of the NBA’s most dynamic young backcourt pairs and help the team reach the second round of the playoffs.
