WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall joined WTOP's John Aaron and Mark Lewis live on the air Thursday to talk about his "Back 2 School Squad," his Team USA experience and the upcoming Wizards' season.

The back to school drive will take place Saturday, August 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington on Benning Road in Northeast D.C. Wall will be present to help distribute supplies to 250 9 to 13 year-olds from the D.C. area.

Wall was recently cut from the Team USA 2014 World Cup squad -- along with teammate Bradley Beal -- as coach Mike Kryzewski trimmed the roster down to 16 players. He was candid on the air about the news.

"It was devastating not to make it," Wall said. "I always want to make every team I get the opportunity to play on."

But he took the setback in stride, choosing to look ahead, rather than be angry at the situation.

"Every time something happens to me bad I don't talk bad about people," he explained. "I just use it as motivation to stay humble and hungry."

Coming off the franchise's first playoff berth since 2008, the Wizards have high expectations entering the 2014-15 season. Listen to the clip to hear Wall discuss the upcoming year, and new acquisition Paul Pierce.
