Police investigate death of Fairfax teen hit by train

WASHINGTON – Fairfax County police are investigating the death of a Robinson Secondary School sophomore after she was hit by a train in Burke.

Brooke Buesking, 15, of Fairfax, was reported missing around 9 p.m. Wednesday. About the same time, police received a report that a person had been hit by a train near Sideburn and New Guinea roads, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police eventually found Brooke’s body near the tracks.

The Office of the Medical Examiner is expected to determine the cause and manner of her death however police do not suspect foul play.

Robinson school officials sent a notice to parents Thursday morning sharing the news of Brooke’s death. She played the violin in the school’s intermediate orchestra and had joined the beginner band as a clarinet player, according to the school.

Grief counselors will be available for students.
