Metro to open early Sunday for Army Ten-Miler

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro trains will start running two hours early on Sunday to help runners traveling to the Army Ten-Miler.

Metro says that it will open at 5 a.m. Sunday for the race, which begins near the Pentagon station on the blue and yellow lines. There will also be additional blue line trains between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium-Armory before and after the race.

On Monday, trains will operate on a Saturday schedule for the Columbus Day holiday.

Most trains will operate at regular weekend intervals on Saturday and Sunday. However, on the red line, beginning Friday at 10 p.m. and continuing through system closing on Sunday, trains will operate every 22 minutes. There will be additional trains between Grosvenor and NoMa-Gallaudet on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
