Md. suspects nabbed after fight prompts 911 call

SYKESVILLE, Md. (AP) — Carroll County sheriff’s deputies say they nabbed two young men in a string of 12 burglaries after the pair got in a heated fight that prompted a call to police.

Cpl. Jon Light said Thursday that a fight between 20-year-old David Murphy and a 17-year-old in Sykesville on Sept. 11 led to a 911 call.

When deputies arrived, Light says they separated the pair and soon found that two had about $1,000 of stolen property with them. Deputies found that four homes and eight cars had been broken into in the area that night.

Murphy was arrested Wednesday on charges of burglary and assault, based on an accusation that Murphy pulled a gun during the fight. The teen is charged in juvenile court.

No attorney has been listed for Murphy.
